Dr. Charles Walkley began his dental career as a Dental Technician in the US Coast Guard (USCG) at Air Station Cape Cod, which included working on a USCG Mobile Dental Unit parked at Chatham Light. After his five year tour of duty, he attended Boston College, graduat-ing as a Scholar of the College, summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He gradua-tion from Georgetown Dental School magna cum laude, a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and recipient of the Georgetown University School of Dentistry Award for Student Dental Re-search.
After graduation, Dr. Walkley entered a general practice residency with the US Air Force. After two years with the Air Force, he returned to active duty with the USCG as a member of the US Public Health Service (USPHS). His last duty station was USCG Air Station Clearwater, Florida which is the largest and busiest USCG Air Station and home of the largest USCG Heath Services Clinic. There, he supervised medical and dental staff and earned the Meritorious Service Medal for his performance as Health Services Officer and Senior Medical/Dental Officer.
Commander Walkley retired from the military in 2000 after 20 years of service. Upon his return to Cape Cod, he was fortunate to join Dr. Weiler in his Harwich practice and became a partner in 2003. Dr. Walkley provides all aspects of general dentistry to his patients. He strives, with the help of his assistants, to make every patient feel informed and comfortable by providing treat-ment in a non-hurried environment with emphasis on quality care.
In January 2018, Dr. Walkley will retire from private practice, planning to remain on Cape Cod where it all began 45 years ago, enjoying golf, pickleball, radio controlled airplanes, drones, bik-ing and all else that the Cape has to offer.
